Rev. Roger Dale Dowd, 63, of Brownsburg, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014. He was born on April 17, 1951 in Berkeley, CA to James Ralph and Betty Berniece (Todd) Dowd. Roger grew up in Iowa and graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1969. He graduated from Indian Hills Community College in 1971 and attended Southern Bible College in Houston, TX from 1971-1973. Roger worked as a Systems Analyst for 30 years, most recently for the State of Indiana at the BMV. He was currently employed at Catheter Research, Inc. as an Extrusion Supervisor. While Roger held many jobs over the years, serving the Lord was the most important to him. He pastored Bethel Family Worship Center in Indianapolis from 1991-1994, and was currently serving as the Associate Pastor for Zion Chapel in Lafayette, IN. Roger also enjoyed golfing and airplanes, and he loved being a grandpa. He is survived by his wife of nearly 42 years, Carolyn Rose (Fields) Dowd; children, Brian (Jackie) Dowd, Jennifer (David) Hendrix, Tim Dowd; and 6 very special grandchildren, Nick Dowd, Dorian V. Dowd, Allison Hendrix, Meredith Hendrix, Julian X. Dowd and Zoe Q. Dowd. Roger is also survived by his mother, Betty Butts; siblings, Jim Dowd, Arlene Dowd and William Dowd. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 3-8pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Speedway. Funeral services will take place on Thursday morning at 10am at Bethel Family Worship Center, Indianapolis. A graveside service will be held at 1pm that afternoon in West Ridge Park Cemetery.
