Bishop Rodgers Archie
86, from Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away surrounded by family at his home on Friday, August 3, 2012. He was born on February 28, 1926 in Huntsville, Texas. Rodgers was preceeded in death by his parents, Claud Archie and Daisy Rodgers Archie, also of Huntsville, Texas.
During the time he was serving his country in the United States Army Air Corp, he met & married Mary Florene Tooley on March 6, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Together, they had eleven children, five sons and six daughters.
He retired from National Starch Chemical Corp after 42 years of service.
In 1964, he founded The Folds of Christ Organization, which he pastored until his retirement in 2005.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary "Florene" Archie; his five sons, Claud (Alyce) Archie, Jimmie (Janifer) Archie, Christopher (Valerie) Archie, Albert (Monica)Archie, Victor (Lisa) Archie and his daughters, Mary "Lou" (Mingo) Thames, Dana (Henry) Frazier, Sharon Alexander, Iwona "Wanda" Johnson, Bonnice (Joseph) Craig, Valerie E. Archie; 38 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be Friday, August 10, 2012 at Flanner and Bu chanan - Washington Park North from 4 to 8 p.m. Homegoing services will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. in Jerusalem Temple, 2125 East 54th Street.
