Robin Lynn (Linkous) Cancilla, 72, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on July 22, 2026. She was born on January 21, 1954, in Macon, Georgia, to parents, the late Rex and Bess (Ashbury) Linkous.
Robin grew up in Brendonwood on the northeast side of Indianapolis. She graduated form Lawrence Central High School in 1972. She then went on to attend Lincoln College in Illinois for 2 years. She was married to the love of her life, Thomas Cancilla, for 40 years. They resided the majority of their marriage in the Devonshire neighborhood where she made many close friends and was in the Bramshaw Book Club. Swimming was her favorite pastime, and she spent every summer at the Brendonwood Counrty Club where everyone loved her. Robin's love for animals, especially dogs, was immense! She had many dogs throughout her life, and she'd walk the neighborhood every evening where no one was a stranger. She definitely had the gift of gab! Robin was an original “ Brendonwood Cowgirl”, lifetime girlfriend who shared many loving, fun and crazy memories together. We were with her on her final journey, playing all our favorite old songs; Marvin Gay, The Beatles, Lead Zeppelin and watching old Ed Sullivan clips. She was at peace and ready to go be with her family when she passed. She will be sorely missed.
Robin is survived by many friends and extended family. Cousins Gaye Lynn (Linkous) Weaver, Timothy Linkous, Karen Jean (Ashbury) and other cousins. Neighborhood close friends Rhonda Bremen and Sherry Nelson who watched and cared for Robin after her husband's passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Thomas Cancilla; and brother, Rodney Linkous.
A Memorial Visitation for Robin will be from 12 pm – 2 pm on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite) – 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250, with a funeral service immediately following at 2 pm.
