She had one sibling, Albert Davis, Jr. She went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 31, 2010, and she was 84 years of age at the time of her death. Mrs. Wathen attended Attucks High School, John Herron Art School, and Indiana Business School. Mrs. Wathen married Austin Clifford Wathen, Sr. and from that union, there were two sons; Roger Lee and Austin Clifford, Jr. Mrs. Wathen worked as a keypunch operator at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles many years before leaving to care for her mother in Greencastle, Indiana. She made a promise to her father that she would care for her mother, which she did for many years, until her mother’s death. Robertha professed her love for Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bethesda Baptist Church where she sang in the Women’s Choir and produced the Sunday Bulletin for many years. Among her favorite hobbies, Robertha loved to fish, knit, garden, and create religious writings. In addition, she was an excellent Calligraphist. She often knitted beautiful items for her many friends and family members, and also for newborn babies in hospitals. Mrs. Wathen was preceded in death by her parents. Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Caleb Goodwin. Mrs. Wathen was also mother, sister, friend and grandmother to an extended family who held a very special place in her heart and who she loved and cherished as her own. Mrs. Wathen will be laid to rest at Washington Park North Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana.
