Roberta J. Slattery

Roberta J. (Bernhardt) Slattery 81 of Speedway, IN died October 15, 2011. Roberta was born August 08, 1930 in Indianapolis to Ralph Ernest and Thelma Anna (Barrows) Bernhardt. Roberta was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Past President of IPS School # 52 P.T.O. and a 37 year member of the American Legion Post 497 Ladies Auxiliary where she was a Past President. Roberta married Walter Marion Slattery on January 19, 1950 in Indianapolis and he preceded his beloved wife on October 20, 2009 after 59 wonderful years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by two children Steven Ray and Sandra Kay Slattery and a sister Helena Hand and a twin brother Robert Bernhardt. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday October 18, 2011 at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center Washington Park North 2706 Kessler Blvd. W. Dr. Indianapolis, In 46228 at 11 AM with calling one hour prior to the service. Roberta is survived by her children Carol L. Douglas, David W. (Mary) Slattery and Karen S. Hitzeman, three grandchildren Suzanna (Aaron) Allen, Brandi Slattery, David W. Slattery Jr., five great grandchildren and a sister Judy (Lynn) Amick and several nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Kessler Woods on the grounds of Washington Park North Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
