Robert W. Poorman, I
89 of Carmel, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013. Bob was born April 28, 1924 in Peoria, IL to the late Winfield Scott and Helen Marie Poorman.
Bob worked in sales for McAllister Machinery and later was with Shepard Poorman Communications. He was a WWII Marine Corp veteran in the Pacific operation. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, where he had served as Eucharistic Minister and as Lector, and with his wife, coordinated the Senior Citizen Over 50's Program.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 29 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, where family and friends are invited to gather from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 28 and one hour prior to the Mass on Wednesday.
Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years Catherine E. "Caye" Poorman; children, Robert W., II, (wife, Jan Frazier-Poorman), Mary Teresa (Terri) Poorman, Barbara Ann Hicks, Donald G. Poorman and Jennifer Marie Miller and deceased children, Martin Scott, Rose Marie and Monica Claire. Grandchildren, Robert W., III, Scott Richard, Elizabeth Claire, Craig Allen, Bethany Caye, Natalie Elise, Chelsea Carol; and 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Schutte, Milford, Ohio and Margaret Ann Baker, Channelview, Texas; brother, John T. Poorman, Danbury, Conn..
