Robert W. Bishop

Robert W. Bishop, 86, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2015. Robert was born on October 26, 1928 in Lockport, New York to the late William J. and Catharine (Muckenstrum) Bishop.

Bob served in the United States Navy on the USS Richard E. Kraus. He earned his undergraduate degree from GMI, Masters degree from MIT, and retired as a chief engineer for Harrison Radiator Division GMC in 1989.

Bob was active in the Salvation Army, Knight of Columbus, the GMI fraternity Gamma Mu Tau, and St. Vincent DePaul. He also enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Marna Bishop; children, Catherine (Stephen) Lawton, Beverly (Ronald) Adams, Timothy (Cindy) Bishop, Teresa Wagner, Jeffrey (Janey) Cantwell and Lori (Kenny) Frye; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild and one sister, Eileen (James) Haskell. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Marie (May) Bishop; and one grandchild, Tyler Adams.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 4100 East 56th Street. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Flanner and Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite) from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to St. Vincent DePaul.
