Robert Lee Slayback, 82, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on April 24th, 2025. He was born in Aurora, Indiana, on October 20, 1942, to Charles and Marjorie (Baker) Slayback.
Bobby enlisted in the US Army after he graduated from Aurora High School in1960. Bobby was a proud US Veteran. A highlight of his time in the Army was the day President John F. Kennedy shook his hand and thanked him for his service.
He married his soulmate and love of his life, Kathy (Davis) Slayback in 1971 and was proud to have celebrated their 54th anniversary April 3rd. Their union was blessed with 3 daughters, Denise (Wayne) Slayback-Barry, Deanna Slayback, and Danielle (Slayback) Schreiber (Justus), all in Indianapolis, Indiana. Bobby also had a son, Randall Slayback, from a previous marriage. He was the proud "Pop Pop" to Benjamin (Ben Ben) Robert Schreiber and Justus Benjamin Schreiber.
Avid reader, lover of western movies, athlete and sports enthusiast (especially golf), hard worker, and cardsharp are just a few descriptors of Bobby. He was proud to have worked for ConAgra Foods for 48 years. Bobby never met a stranger and was always the first to help in any situation. He will forever be remembered for his story telling, contagious laugh, and unconditional love.
He is survived by his brother Harold "Kenny" (Margie) Slayback of Aurora, Indiana and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, great-great-great nieces, and great-great-great nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marjorie Slayback; his brothers, John Slayback, Gerald "Jerry" Slayback, Walter "Wally" Slayback, George "Rusty" Slayback, Lowell "Thorny" Slayback and his sister Charlene Slayback.
There will be a visitation held in Robert's honor 11-2pm, May 2nd, 2025, with a funeral service to follow at 2pm both will be taking place at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park East Funeral Center.
