Robert Shorter

Robert L. Shorter, Jr. passed away Friday, September 13, 2013, at the age of 72, surrounded by his family. Robert was born in Indianapolis, IN on July 10, 1941, to Robert Shorter, Sr. and Dorothy (Prunty) Shorter. He grew up in the Indianapolis area, attending Broad Ripple High School, where he was an accomplished athlete in several sports. He attended and graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree. After college, he joined the Indianapolis Police Department. With a huge passion for protecting people, he served the city of Indianapolis for 20 years in several capacities; as an undercover officer, a member of the Crime Action Team and SWAT team. After retiring from the police force, he joined Pacers Sports & Entertainment, serving as the Director of Security and Crowd Management for 19 years. He was an amazing, loving father to his children, a wonderful grandfather, brother, and a great friend to all that knew him. He is survived by his sister; Donna (Shorter) Miller, brother; Mark Shorter, his three children; Kristian Shorter, Kathryn Shorter Luther, and Zachary Shorter, and granddaughter Kendall Shorter.
