Robert R. Greene

Robert R. Greene passed peacefully November 20th, 2014. He was 98 years old. Bob was born on March 29th, 1916 in Jonesville, Virginia to Christopher Columbus Greene and Bessie Mae (Lawson) Greene. The family moved to Hendricks County, IN. when Bob was a young child. He graduated from Danville H.S. and then Tri-State College as a Mechanical Engineer. Before World War II started he joined the US Air Force and served from 1941 to 1946 in the Panama Canal Zone and various bases within the US. He was honorably discharged with rank of Captain. In 1946 he joined General Motors Allison Division as an Engineer. He retired in 1980 after 34 years with the company. He married Mildred E. Cullison on March 2, 1946 in Sumner Illinois. Bob and Mildred celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in 2014. Bob was survived by his wife, Mildred; his son Greg (Pam); his sisters Maebelle Vaughn of Daytona Beach FL; Anne Smith of Speedway IN; and Christine Huggler of Greencastle IN. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Carl, Elmo and Kyle Greene. In lieu of flowers donations are to be directed to Seventh and Eighth United Christian Church where Bob was a member for over 50 years.
