Robert Lee Cannon, Sr. was born to Paul and Loretta Cannon on October 27, 1927, and went Home to be with the Lord on October 11, 2016. The oldest of 10 children, Bob loved his family and his country. He served his country during WWII as a United States Navy Seabee, stationed on the USS Maricopa County (LST-938), and honorably discharged in 1946.
After the war, Bob married the love of his life, Mary Anne Adams (whom he always called ‘Blue Eyes’) in 1947. Left to cherish his memories are: his wife Mary Ann; his daughters Brenda (William) Russell, Sally (Ricky) Hopper, Annette Cannon; and, his son, Vincent (Rhonda) Cannon. Bob had six grandchildren: Heather (Troy) Meives, Ricky (Jennifer) Hopper, Tracey (Derrick) Wozniak, Zachary (Jackie) Cannon, Olivia Cannon (Connor Blaker, fiancé), and Theodore Cannon, as well as one step-granddaughter, Lori (Chris) Head. Additionally, surviving him are his nine great-grandchildren. Bob's surviving brothers are: James (Patricia) Cannon, Richard (Emma Jo) Cannon, Dale (Connie) Cannon; and his surviving sisters Linda (Troy) Mc Daniels and Karen Ford. Bob also had many nieces and nephews. Bob is now in the presence of the Lord with his eldest son, Robert Jr., his parents Paul and Loretta, and four siblings.
In his profession, Bob was an expert in machines and motors of all types. He built a successful career as an Operating Engineer, retiring from the F.A. Wilhelm Construction Company. Among his many interests, Bob loved: his Wire Hair Fox Terriers; fishing; golf; gardening; woodcraft; music (guitar, harmonica, accordion); and landscaping. But his heart's true passion was for his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Bob loved the Lord with extraordinary zeal, serving the Church as a deacon and Sunday School teacher, as well as assisting in many buildings and grounds projects. He took evangelism very seriously, witnessing Christ to countless souls — even late in his life from his hospital bed. Bob devoted much of his time to the Bible, and particularly to Scripture memorization.
Bob's family would like to express its deep and sincere gratitude to Angie of Seasons Hospice for her support.
