Robert L. "Bob" Schwimmer passed away on September 22, 2014. He had been in a battle with kidney failure and died of complications leading to pneumonia. He was surrounded by his three sons, a granddaughter, and great-grandson.
Bob was born on November 5, 1926 and worked 38 years at Chrysler Foundry. Beginning in the Maintenance Department, he ultimately rose to a supervisor in charge of all iron melting for all Chrysler brand engines.
In addition to being a great husband, father, and provider, he was a true friend to all that surrounded him. Bob enjoyed fishing, golfing and led a fast pitch softball team to the state final game as an outstanding pitcher.
In 1967, the 3 boys decided to start a golf outing to show their respect for their parents. This has been an ongoing occasion since that time and has been a tribute to the kindness Bob has shown.
He is survived by sons, David Knoll, Rich (Cindy) Schwimmer and Mark (Sue Ann) Schwimmer; grandchildren Lisa (Todd) Redfern, Andy, Jeff and Maddie Schwimmer, Kara (Rob) Conerty and Kyle Hayden; great-grandchildren Evan Redfern, Emma and Kate Hayden and Evan Conerty.
Bob missed his beloved wife, Bette, since her passing in 2009, and now finds peace in her presence with the Lord.
Very special thanks to Jennifer Knoll, Lisa Redfern and the staff at Northwest Manor Healthcare Center.
