Robert "Bob" Eugene Hembree, 95, of Indianapolis, Indiana, went home to be with his Lord on August 20, 2026. He was born on September 10, 1930, in Vincennes, Indiana, to parents, Robert A. Hembree and Mabel (McCord) Hembree.

Bob was a devoted member of Pleasant View Lutheran Church. He belonged to the American Legion Post 500. For many years he enjoyed playing New Zealand Bowling with fellow residents within Robin Run Village.

Bob served his country in the United States Army stationed at Ft. Knox, Kentucky, and later in Germany. After his military service, he built his career as an accountant with Allison Transmission Division of General Motors.

He was known above all for the devotion he carried for those closest to him. He loved his wife, Marilee, and took deep pride in being the father of his daughter, Brenda. Of all the things that mattered most in his life, his family stood as his proudest accomplishment.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Brenda Cooper; son-in-law, John Cooper; brothers, Harold Hembree and Edward Hembree; and sister, Carolyn McGuire; as well as cherished nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Marilee E. Hembree; his parents, Robert and Mabel Hembree; brother, Donald Hembree and sister, Linda Allen.

Visitation for Robert will be from 11:00am-1:00pm on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite) – 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250, with a funeral service immediately following at 1:00pm. Entombment with military honors will take place at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
