Robert Quinn Gaither

Greenfield

Greenfield, Indiana – Robert Quinn Gaither passed away peacefully at home while being comforted by his family on July 6, 2026, at the age of 83. His sense of humor, compassion, and most of all, his love for his family, will be greatly missed.

Quinn was born on November 2, 1942, to parents Loren Faye and Helen (Newman) Gaither in Breese, Illinois. After coming to Indiana, Quinn graduated from Washington High School in 1961. After graduation, he went to work for Cummins Engine Company where he spent forty years in various capacities before retiring in 2002. He was a long time member of Vineyard Community Church at Mt. Comfort in Greenfield, Indiana.

A hard-working man, Quinn would still find as much time as he could to spend with his family. He adored his wife and loved his children and grandchildren, finding personal meaning in providing for them. His favorite time of year was Christmas, where he could spend as much time as possible with all of his favorite people.

If he wasn’t at work or with his family, you might find Quinn on a golf course, washing his cars, or most likely, just peacefully relaxing in his backyard and watching the birds.

In addition to his parents, Quinn is preceded in death by his brother, Charles Dennis Gaither.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Benton) Gaither; children Terri Scalisi (Paul), Blake Gaither (Gregory T. Kelley), Daniel Gaither (Amber), and Natalie Pendlum (Ryan); sisters Phyllis Ketchum and Janel Fromme; grandchildren Zackary Gaither, Nikolas Gaither, Evie Benavente, and Braylen Benavente; and great-grandchildren Carter Gaither and Colton Gaither.

Family will host a celebration of life at Vineyard Community Church at Mt. Comfort (1672 North 600 West, Greenfield, Indiana) on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 10:30 am. with lunch to follow.
