Robert Foster

Robert Hale Foster, 96, of Franklin, IN died April 13, 2012. He was born in Patriot, Indiana to the late Brunner A. and Sadie (Lambkin) Foster on February 10, 1916. Robert was a graduate of Patriot High School, Class of 1934. While serving in the U. S. Army during WWII, Robert fought in five battles, including the Battle of the Bulge and at Omaha Beach. He received the French Coeur du Guerrier Medal for heroic service. Robert was employed as a foreman at Navistar for more than 38 years before retiring in 1976. He was married for 38 years to Helen Tudor Foster, who died in 1976. He was also married to Mary E. Tudor Foster from 1977 until her death in 2009. Robert was active in the VFW, American Legion Post 134 in Broad Ripple, American Patriot Masonic Lodge #750, Oolitic, Indiana, Murat Shrine, and the Scottish Rite. He was involved for 58 years with the Boy Scouts of America, and received the "Silver Beaver Award", the highest honor an adult in Scouting can receive. Robert was also a member of First Friends Church in Indianapolis. Robert is survived by his son William "Bill" Foster (Betty); step children Miles A. Tudor, Claudia Hutson, and Richard W. Tudor; grandchildren Rob Foster (Linda) and Wm. Foster, Jr.(Kris); great-grandchildren Chad, Courtney, Megan, and Cody Foster; and one great-great grandchild, Cayden. Robert was preceded in death by his wives Helen and Mary; his step-daughter Roberta LaPilato; and his brothers Theodore, Byford, David, and Warren. Services are planned for Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan Zionsville at 2 pm. Calling will be from noon until time of service, with a Masonic Service beginning at noon.
