Robert F. (Bob) Jahn passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the age of 77. He was born in Evansville Indiana on February 20, 1940. Bob is survived by his wife of 33 years, Glenda “Jo” Jahn, daughter Elizabeth (Flynn) Trinity, sons Mark (Bev) Jahn and Tim (Sue) Jahn, Stepdaughters Gail Godwin and Donna (Darryl) Godwin. Also surviving is his sister Caroline (Carl) Scott of New Mexico. Bob is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Stepdaughter Jeanie Godwin and grandson James “Barney” Forsyth preceded him in death.
Bob retired from Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) after 28 years of service. He graduated from Purdue University was an avid pilot and spent many years placing greyhounds into adoption homes. Bob’s hobbies included line coursing greyhounds and showing Deerhounds at numerous dog shows.
Bob’s love of Greyhound dogs inspired him to form Retired Greyhounds as Pets (ReGAP) where he was able to place hundreds of dogs with loving families to enable these dogs to continue to thrive long after their racing careers had ended.
Services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday July 6, 2017 at at Flanner and Buchanan Washington Park East 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis Indiana 46229. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the service time at 1:00 PM.
