Robert Earl Woods
Age 76 of Green Cove Springs, Fl, formerly of New Palestine, IN, passed away on July 20, 2012. Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Beth and their children, Diana (Jim) Poturalski, Brian (Marlena) Woods, grandchildren Catherine, Christopher, sisters JoAnne Bassett, Marge Kieffer and nieces and nephews. Bob was born on November 1, 1935 in Mt. Carmel, IL to his parents Elvin and Martha (Baum) Woods who preceded him in death. He graduated from Mt. Carmel High School and earned his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering and Masters of Science in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Upon graduation, Bob moved to Indianapolis to work for Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) in 1959 where he worked for 40 years. After retiring, Bob and Mary Beth loved to travel and set out on the road traveling the country in their RV. They visited 45 of the 48 contiguous states in their RV. Bob enjoyed playing golf, the Indianapolis 500 where he attended 54 consecutive races, pheasant hunting, and attending his grandchildren's activities. Celebration of Bob's life will be at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN on Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 4-8 pm.
