Robert Earl Reed 90, of Indianapolis, passed away January 13, 2011. He was born April 25, 1920, to Ross and Alice Reed in Greensburg. Robert served in the United States Army Air Corps in World War II. He was a 62 year member of Brookside Masonic Lodge No. 720, a member of the Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite, where he received the prestigious 33º in the year 2000, and a 35 year member of the Scottish Rite Chorus. Throughout his life, Bob was known for being a good father, husband, and a dedicated family man. He never met a stranger, especially one in need. He was a long time member of the New Bethel Baptist Church located in Wanamaker. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marjorie Reed; sons, Mark Reed, Richard (Sherry) Reed, John (Sarah) Reed; grandchildren, Rebecca Larson, Sarah Reed, Lindsey Compton, Emily Puntenney; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dyar Reed. Visitation for Bob will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center- Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street, a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the funeral center. Entombment will take place in Washington Park East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Bob’s church, 8936 Southeastern Avenue (46229), or to The 32º Masonic Learning Center for Children, 650 N. Meridian Street (46204).
