Indianapolis, Indiana – Robert Duane Terry, 73, went home to his Lord on July 7, 2025. A caring man and loving husband, Bob’s friendly nature, quiet strength, and late-night trips to White Castle, will be forever missed.
Born in Frankfort, Indiana, to parents Robert Wiliam & Melba Louise (Carey) Terry on February 11, 1952. He graduated from Frankfort High School in 1970 and went on to work for Community Hospital for 50 years. He started out as security before working his way to the maintenance department, becoming the maintenance supply coordinator for the hospital.
Bob was also a dedicated Boy Scout. A member of the Order of the Arrow, he served as a scout leader for Troop 483 and as support for Troop 161. While working with Troop 483, he became Cub Master and was awarded by the Pioneer District with a Share of Stock and Award of Merit. He also served as a Deacon of Arlington Heights Baptist Church until its closing and has been a long-time member of Post Road Christian Church.
Most importantly, Bob met his sweetheart, Linda Jane and they were married on March 25, 1972. They celebrated 53 years of marriage together this year before his passing.
A workaholic, Bob took great pride in providing for his family. When he did find time to get away, he loved to fish, watch old westerns like Gunsmoke and Wagon Train, but most of all, Star Trek: The Original Series.
Most of all though, he loved his family. While he could be stern, he was also the rock that everyone depended on.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his beloved stepfather, James Snodgrass.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Jane (Roe) Terry; children Robert William Terry (Angie) and Elizabeth Ann Fanning (Ricky); siblings Melba Jean Terry-Cullen (John) and Orville William Terry (Lisa); grandchildren Duane Austin Terry, Victoria Elizabeth Wilson, Pablo Daniel Lagunes, Fabian Alexander Wilson, Michael Cole, and Destiny Harrison (Takoda); great-grandchildren Ellanore Harrison and Tydus Harrison.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229) from 10 am – 2 pm with funeral services following at 2 pm. Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
Bob humbly requests no hats to be worn at his service.
