Robert A. Coval, 83, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on April 16, 2026. He met his wife of 63 years, Betty A. (Campbell) Coval, in high school, where he was a drum major and she was a majorette. Together they lived in Indiana, England, Sweden, and Florida, and shared a lifelong love of travel.
Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynne Haughey Coval; his parents, Al and Esther Coval; and his sister, Joyce Coval. He is survived by his wife; his son, Gregory R. Coval, and daughter‑in‑law, Kathleen Coval; granddaughters Candice Gregoire and Laura Coval; great‑grandchildren Owen, Loba, and Zoe; and his sister, Marcia Jackson.
A 1960 graduate of Thomas Carr Howe High School, Bob earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from General Motors Institute (Kettering University) and Purdue University. He enjoyed a 40‑year career as an Engineering and Site Manager at Allison Gas Turbine (Rolls‑Royce).
Bob was devoted to his family and community, coaching youth basketball, and participating in YMCA Indian Guides and Indian Princess programs. He loved sports, music, reading, puzzles, building Heathkit TV’s, corvettes and his family’s Monday Night Dinners. An avid traveler, Bob and Betty explored much of the world together.
His life will be celebrated at a private family gathering. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riley Hospital for Children’s Foundation.
