Robert M. Cooper of Westfield, Indiana passed away on January 2, 2024 at the age of 71. He was born on December 24, 1952 to Dwight and Marion Cooper in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
He attended Hackett High School and graduated from Western Michigan University with an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering in 1977 and a graduate degree in Operations Research in 1982. He went on to work as an Industrial Engineer/OR Manager for 35 years. He met his spouse, Mary Ellen Kren Cooper, while working at Kellogg’s in Battle Creek, Michigan in 1987. They married on July 23, 1988 and raised two children, Nicholas M. Cooper and Marianna K. Cooper.
Robert retired in 2010 and spent his time thereafter as a teacher working with special needs children at Pike School System in Indianapolis, Indiana with an emphasis on STEM curriculum. Robert was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Church. He was an enthusiast of history, airplanes and movies.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife and children. He leaves behind many beloved family members and friends.
Robert’s funeral mass will take place on January 12, 2024 at 2pm at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Carmel. A reception will follow at the Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield beginning at 3:30pm.
