Robert Anthony Conway, (81), of Indianapolis, IN and Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024.

Robert (Bob) was born to Sophia and A.V. Conway on February 6, 1942, in Avondale, Missouri. He was a proud graduate of De La Salle Military Academy. He excelled in all sports and will be receiving an Excellence in Sports Award this April from De La Salle. He went on to attend Kansas State University to play football and ultimately graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, KS. Bob was self-employed as a manufacture’s rep until his retirement.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Marilyn (and her two married sons) and his children from his first marriage of nearly 45 years to Darlene Conway (who preceded him in death); Susan (Jim) Mannfeld, Mark (Dana) Daugherty, Kimberly (Brett) Whigham, Brian (Kate) Conway, Annette Kiene, Daniel Bell, 18 grandchildren, 3 great grandsons. He is also survived by his brother Edward Conway. He is preceded in death by his brother Al Conway, sisters Ann Walton and Mary Jane Conway, and his son Douglas Bell.

In addition to being devoted to his family, Bob was passionate about youth sports and coached many young men for over the course of thirty-five years. To many he is and will always be “Coach”.

A Celebration of Christian Burial is scheduled for February 12 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Coach Conway to Tab Recreation, Attn. Ben Hughes, Director, 418 E 34th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46205. Online donations can be made to tabpres.org. All donations will be directed to the youth football program.
