Robert (Bob) Hunter, 86, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026. He was born June 2, 1939 to the late William Roy and Dorothy Hunter.

Bob graduated from Speedway High School and Butler University, and also served for seven years in the National Guard. Early in this time period he met the love of his life and was happily married to Sonja (Griffin) for 52 years until she passed away in 2012.

Bob worked 35 years for Allison Gas Turbine and Allison Engine Company. He then took his unique printing systems knowledge and experience into post-retirement working for IKON Office Solutions.

Bob was known to all his family and friends as a kind and gentle soul. He truly loved working on cars, volunteering his time supporting others and was the Grandpa that could fix anything.

Bob is survived by his brother William (Bill) Hunter, children Brad (Kathy) Hunter and Kami Oglesby, grandchildren Cody Hunter, Alexa Hawley, Lora Teagarden and Katie Rediger and great grandchildren Amelia, Keaton, Eva, James and Tessa, all of whom will carry his memory in their hearts.

Visitation will be at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park North on Wednesday May 13, 2026 from 4-8:00 pm, followed by a funeral service on Thursday May 14, 2026 at 10:00 am.
