Robert B. Bishop, of Carmel, Indiana passed away on October 10, 2025. He was born September 23, 1933 in Indianapolis. The son of Thelma and John D. Bishop, he was a 1951 graduate of Tech High School, where he was active in multiple sports, as well as the Tech Choir. He graduated from Butler University with a degree in Economics; he minored in voice, and was a proud member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, national fraternal society in music. A professional singer, he served as the soloist at Third Church of Christ, Scientist for many years, followed by more than 25 years as the baritone soloist at First-Meridian Heights Presbyterian Church.
Bob was preceded in death by Gertrude (Gert) Weest Bishop, as well as his sister, Carol Vollnogle, and his brother, William Bishop. He and Gert had five children: Stephen (Cynthia), Deborah (James) Weinmann, Elizabeth (the late Stephen) Mong, Thomas (Diane), and John (Julie); nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Bob was employed by Indiana Bell/AT&T for 40 years, retiring in 1991 as District Manager in Network Planning. While with Indiana Bell, Bob served several terms as the president of the Bell Conservation Club, and was a lifetime member of the AT&T Pioneers. Following retirement, Bob was active in the Wood Park HOA, serving multiple terms as president. An enthusiastic fisherman, Bob spent many peaceful hours on Douglas Lake in Pellston, Michigan, as well as many other top-secret fishing spots. He was an avid photographer, particularly of the beautiful scenery he seemed to find anywhere he went.
