Robert Barker Turner, Jr.

December 13, 1940 — May 22, 2018

Carmel, Indiana

Bob Turner, 77, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. Bob was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on December 13, 1940 to Robert and Lois Turner.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Dianne Hurst Turner, his two daughters Cynthia “Cindy” (Blake) Miller and Lauren Stidham, both of Carmel, Indiana and by his brother Bruce F. Turner (Betsy), his nephew Doug Turner (Tracie) and niece, Denise Furber, DMD (Matthew) of Port Orange, Florida. He is also survived by his two granddaughters, Kaitlin and Madison, who brought great joy to him with their love and many hugs.

Bob’s career in banking spanned 32 years with Merchants National Bank and National City Bank, which later became PNC. Upon his retirement as Sr. Vice President from the bank in 1995, he joined his wife as a Realtor with the F.C. Tucker Company, where they worked as partners for more than 10 years.

The Turner family moved from Ashtabula to Indianapolis in 1955. Bob attended North Central High School, where he met his beloved wife Dianne, attended Indiana University in Bloomington where he joined Delta Tau Delta fraternity and graduated from the University of Indianapolis.

Bob was a long-time member of Highland Golf and Country Club and loved playing golf at every opportunity with his family, friends, and associates through the years.

A heartfelt thank you to his close friends, to his caregiver Nellie Takacs, and to his personal trainer, Kitty Markusfeld, who helped Bob extend his quality of life through their compassion, love and companionship in his last years. Please know how much he enjoyed the good times and his friendship with all of you. A special thank you to the entire care team in the St. Vincent Hospital MICU who were exceptionally compassionate and provided him with great care.

Bob will be remembered for his devotion to Dianne, loyalty to family and friends, a life lived with great honor and integrity, and for being “always the gentleman”.
