Robert Baker

Robert M. Baker, 93 of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014. Robert was born January 23, 1921 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Robert M. and Grace Strayer Baker. He was a graduate of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA and received his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business. Robert was selected to the Naval OCS, was commissioned, achieved the rank of Navy lieutenant and was a WWII veteran. Robert worked as an accountant with General Motors. He retired in 1983 from Guide Lamp Division in Anderson after more than 30 years of service. Robert was a former member and treasurer of the Anderson Country Club and former member of the Quail Creek Country Club in Naples Florida. He was an avid tennis player and duplicate bridge player. While at Lehigh University, he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Friends and family are invited to gather from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, November 17, 2014 at Flanner and Buchanan-Carmel, where the funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm. A family graveside services will be at Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson, Indiana. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Jinnie Hamel Baker. He is survived by his children, Cindy (Dan) Kincaid and Robert M. (Sherry) Baker III; grandchildren, Robert M. (Michelle) Baker IV, Whitney Kincaid, Katie Baker, Ashley (Bryden) Cory and Kelsey(Adam) Kamykowski; great grandchildren, Robert M. (V), Josephine, Emmett Baker and Theodore Cory.
