Robert A. Wruble 75, Indianapolis, died peacefully on Monday, March 14, 2011. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on April 11, 1935 to the late Terence and Teresa Wruble.
He graduated in 1953 from Central Catholic High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he was a member of the 1950 state championship football team. He earned a B.S. in business administration from Indiana University in 1957, where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. On August 23, 1958 Bob married his high school sweetheart, Jeanne Bosler, also of Fort Wayne.
Bob began his career after college in a sales position for Westinghouse in Chicago. Bob joined the Air Force for a brief stint in 1959 and then served in the National Guard. Later Bob moved to Indianapolis to help run Indianapolis Transit Mix Company and the Indianapolis Asphalt Paving Company. He subsequently co-founded a partnership, S & W Enterprises, where he began his passion as a custom residential homebuilder. In the 1970's and early 1980's S & W helped develop housing sub-divisions such as Ivy Ridge, Castle Cove, and Valla Vista in Greenwood, and was one of the earliest developers in the rapidly growing Geist Reservoir area. Bob also managed the construction of several developments in Hamilton County and the Eagle Creek area for Blakely Development Company and Davis Homes. In later years, Bob also owned and managed Aarco Roofing Company. After selling Aarco, he went back into building custom homes up until very recently.
Bob Wruble had a wonderful sense of humor, and had many longstanding friendships that he cherished. Bob is perhaps best known for his passionate following of IU football, IU basketball, Indianapolis Colts and the Indianapolis 500. Bob also had a love for coaching youth sports. He was the president of the Saint Matthew’s Men's club and coached CYO baseball and football from 1974 - 1979. In 1980, Bob received the Monsignor Busald award, which recognizes adults who have given sustained service, to the youth of a particular parish through CYO and youth ministry. Bob, aka Paw Paw, was also a wonderful grandfather who dearly loved his seven grandchildren.
His wife of 48 years, Jeanne Bosler Wruble, brother Donald Wruble and his parents preceded Bob in death. He is survived by his five children, Shele French (Fritz) of Indianapolis, Tim Wruble (Roxann) of Alpharetta, GA, Beth Freeman (Eric) of Noblesville, Mike Wruble of Carmel and Patrick Wruble of Carmel, by his loving companion, Diane Mikiska, and by his sister, Sharon Miller (Richard) of Fort Wayne. His seven grandchildren, Grant Wruble, Pete Freeman, Julia French, Michael French, Claire Wruble, Molly Freeman and Ben Freeman also survive him.
