Rita McCarty

Rita Diann McCarty, 63, passed away September 19^th, 2023. She was born in Danville, Kentucky, June 7^th, 1960, to Bobbie Eugene and Norma Joyce (Edwards) McDonald.

Rita moved to Indianapolis at a young age and graduated from Emmerich Manual High School.

She worked as a foundry technician for Chrysler for many years before retiring.

On December 19^th, 1981, she married the love of her life, Joe Jerome McCarty. They had known each other since they were children and shared over 40 wonderful, married years together. Joe passed away April 16^th, 2021.

Rita was a generous, sweet woman, with a huge heart. She was very hardworking and crafty. Rita loved being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and spending quality time with her family. An impressive gardener, Rita loved being outdoors, tending to her flowers and vegetables. She passed down her love and talent for canning veggies, cooking, and sewing to her grandbabies.

Rita is survived by daughters Carrie Castillo (Mauricio), Savannah McCarty, Angel Hon (Doniel), and Misty McDonald Robinson (Cashmir); 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Joe; her brother.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 27^th, from 11-2pm. Her funeral will begin at 2pm. Rita will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
