Rita Rae Cook, 77, left this world too soon, on September 30, 2025. She was born on November 8, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Charles E. and Virginia M. (Henderson) Kimberlin.
Rita grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Arlington High School in 1965. On August 12, 1966, Rita married the love of her life, Stephen W. Cook. They shared 59 wonderful years together. She worked for the Social Security Administration before leaving to take on the role of full-time mother.
Although she suffered the effects of Multiple Sclerosis her entire life, that didn’t keep her from being a loving and supportive wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She always took interest and attended activities her children and grandchildren were involved in growing up. Before her mobility severely declined, she traveled to Hawaii and Italy with her husband. She loved spending time with her grandchildren whether it be coloring pictures or doing math problems and always had kind words to say.
She is survived by her loving husband Stephen, two children Jeffrey (Deanna) Cook and Amber (Nathan) Hiscock, 7 grandchildren Cody (Pauline), Emmalee (Brandon), Keegan, Kennedy, Braden, Savannah, and Delaney, and 2 great-grandchildren Aria and Maverick. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Virginia Kimberlin, and great-grandson Owen.
Memorial contributions may be made in Rita’s memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (https://www.nationalmssociety.org).
