Richard Henry Zollars, 75, passed away on August 23, 2023.
He was born on May 17, 1948 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis to Paul and Romona Zollars.
He graduated from Emmerich Manual High School in 1966. In 1967, Richard joined the United States Air Force where he served as a medic, state side, until 1971. He then went to work at Kroger Warehouse in Indianapolis, IN until retiring in 2004.
Richard enjoyed bowling and fishing. He had been a coach for youth baseball at Carson Park. He loved watching sports of all kinds, especially college basketball. His favorite teams were IU, Pacers, Colts, and the Reds.
Gatlinburg, TN in the Smoky Mountains was his go to vacation spot. He went there most every year. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his daughters Heather Zollars Hayes (Joshua), Mona LaCrosse Staggs (Timothy), step daughter Tiffany Carter Garcia (Enrique), step son Michael Carter, 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and sister Andrea Zollars Bryson (Robert).
He was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife Bobette, his brother Cary, half brother Larry, and half sister Carol.
Richard will be greatly missed.
Funeral service will take place 1 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46221, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service.
