Richard L. Wheeler
80, McCordsville, passed away November 14, 2012. He was born June 28, 1932 in Columbus, OH, the son of Theodore and Florence (Geisman) Wheeler. He was a graduate of the University of Louisville. Richard retired from Thermoset Plastics. He was a certified Master Gardener. Richard enjoyed volunteering with the White River Gardens, the Indianapolis Zoo, hospice organizations, and the St. Augustine's Home, where he was instrumental in creating their gardens. Richard was a loving husband and devoted father. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Lisa Thomas and Paula Dilbeck, and his brother, Ted Wheeler. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Peggy Wheeler; his sons, Ted Wheeler (Lori) and Jim Wheeler (Sandy); his daughter, Helen Wheeler; his step-sons, Vince Thomas (Julie) and Michael Thomas (Nichole); his step-daughters, Sandy Thomas and Jeanne Pitman (Steve); 19 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Don Wheeler. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 17 at 2 PM at Holy Spirit Parish at Geist, 10350 Glaser Way, Fishers, with calling beginning at 1 PM and the eulogy at 1:45 PM. Cremation rites will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Augustine's Home for the Aged, 2345 W. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260.
