Richard Allen Roberts

Richard Allen Roberts, 74, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on June 1, 2026. He was born on March 29, 1952, in Indianapolis, to the late Richard Earl and Sarah Roberts.

Rick was a devoted husband and father. He was known as a straight shooter, always honest regardless of whether the truth was what you wanted to hear. He had great sense of humor, and his favorite jokes brought joy and laughter to those around him.

His values were deeply rooted in hard work and integrity. Rick instilled those values in the lives of young kids that he was a mentor for. He was willing to help anyone in need and had a generous spirit.

Rick was a proud member of the Carmel Dad’s Club. In 1984, he started his own business in Carmel, Roberts Painting.

Rick found happiness in golfing, trips to the beach, and vacations to Destin, Florida. These moments were made even more special by sharing them with loved ones. His preferred refreshment, Bud Lite, was often part of these gatherings.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Debbie; children, Steven (Andrea) Roberts (two children, Harper Roberts and Axel Roberts), Tim (Lori) Roberts (two children, Parks Roberts and Payton Strayn), and Shawn Soumilas (child, Ian Soumilas); brother, Bill Abston; and step-brothers, Charlie Roberts and Kenny Roberts.

Rick was preceded in passing by his father, Richard Roberts; mom, Sally Abston; and grandson, Zachary Soumilas.

A Memorial Gathering will take place on Saturday, June 13, from 12pm to 2pm, with a Memorial Service at 2pm, at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, 325 E. Carmel Drive.
