Richard -Rich- Arbuckle

Richard Wendell Arbuckle, 83 entered eternal life at 1:35 am on Thursday, August 4th at home. He was born on October 3, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri to Robert Barney and Ina Berniece (Pruitt) Arbuckle.
He graduated from Edwardsville High School in Edwardsville, Illinois in 1950. After high school he studied economics at Schurtleff College in Edwardsville until he joined the US Air Force in 1952.
He was assigned for two years with the 10th Radar Calibration Unit at Yakota Air Force Base, Japan. The remaining two years he was assigned to Strategic Air Command at Lincoln AFB in Nebraska serving as a staff sergeant.
After he was honorably discharged he joined McDonald Douglass Corp. In 1956, he joined Safeco Insurance Company until 1979. He married JoAnn Smarjesse in 1957 at Springfield, Illinois. In 1979, he was a District Manager for Economy, Fire and Casualty. In 1983, he joined Indiana Farmers Mutual Insurance as Vice President of Sales and Marketing retiring in 1997.
He’s preceded in death by his parents; sister, Peggy June Arbuckle; brother, Robert Clone Arbuckle; and grandsons, John Whitney Roth III and Jake Harris Roth. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn; sister, Phyllis Jean Hobson; daughter, Jené M. Arbuckle; son, Todd W. Arbuckle (Sandra); son, Alexis R. Arbuckle; and son, Scott R. Arbuckle. Additionally, he leaves 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was a life member of the Society of Indiana Pioneers.
Calling will be at 10:00 am, Saturday August 13th at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church in Zionsville and a Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Graveside services will follow the Mass. A celebration of life luncheon will follow the graveside services. Funeral arrangements handled by Flanner and Buchanan- Zionsville.
