Richard O. "Dick" Bryant

Richard O. “Dick” Bryant, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.

He was born on April 19, 1927 in Linton, IN to the late Rufus Colson and Mary Ellen (Benevole) Bryant. Dick was a 1945 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School and attended Indiana University.  He was a 36 year employee of Western Electric, retiring in 1985.  Dick was a longtime member of the Lynhurst Masonic Lodge, Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine and the Gatling Gun Club.  He was also a member of Unity Church of Indianapolis.  Dick was an avid IU basketball and football fan. He was a passionate outdoorsman who enjoyed mushroom hunting and spending time with family at his lake house in Clay County.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy “Dottie” (Hale) Bryant; daughters, Patty Chalmers and Pam (Kenny) Eubanks; grandchildren, Alex (Jonelle) Chalmers, Brittany (Wipula) Wimalasiri, Christin (Yasser) Mohamed; great-grandchildren, Safy Mohamed, Matilda Chalmers, Kehara Wimalasiri.  Dick was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Lucille, Patty and Wilma Bryant, Willanna “Willie” Turpen and David Anthony “Tony” Bryant.  He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Chalmers.

Visitation for Dick will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 11am – 1pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, with funeral services immediately following.  Entombment will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children or Riley Children’s Foundation.  Friends are invited to leave online condolences for the family at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
