Richard Mansfield Folkerth

Richard Mansfield Folkerth, 94, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, September 25, 2015. He was born in Indianapolis the son of Samuel Jesse and Ethel (Mansfield) Folkerth. He retired from AWD and had also worked with Eastern Airlines as a flight crew member. He attended IU-Bloomington. Richard served with the United States Air Force during World War II and with the Air Force Reserve after the war, and achieved the rank of Captain. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 57 years Virginia Evelyn (Russ) Folkerth and his sister Daisy M. Strickland. Richard is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Ann "Cyndy" and her husband, James Harrison Taber of Indianapolis, Catherine Jane "Cathy" Couch of Indianapolis and Janice Louise Martin of Avon; 3 grandchildren, Ami Lyn Couch, Matthew Harrison Taber and his wife Casey Lynn, and Jaime Marie Taber; 2 great- grandchildren, Brandon Michael and Matthew Scott Taber. Viewing will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 PM on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Flanner and Buchanan-Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites.
