Richard L. "Dick" Miller
71, a long time resident of Indianapolis, passed away June 11, 2012. He was born July 27, 1940.
He was a companion to his best friend Susan (Seltzer) Miller for 24 years.
Born in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of the late Wayne Morton and Norine Fern (Houser) Miller and brother to the late Bruce A. Miller.
He was a Senior Bridge Technician for Butler, Fairman and Seufert for 37 years drafting many of the well known bridges in Indiana. He cared deeply about the detail of his drawings and training the young employees (especially without a computer). He also worked for several years at his brother Bruce's company, Rebar Services, providing engineering services for building projects. In his younger years he worked at U.S. Steele and Herff Jones.
Dick was a devoted family man, loving spouse, son, brother, father and grandfather. His hobbies were his family and NASCAR racing. Dick taught the entire family about unconditional love. He always took care of his children, made many, many sacrifices sometimes working two jobs, went to countless athletic events for his children and grandchildren over the years with much enthusiasm, emphasized the importance of morals and values and taught all his family by example. He was a true man.
