Richard Lancet

Richard Alden Lancet, 91, of Indianapolis, passed away May 15, 2013. Born in Indianapolis on February 14, 1922 to Kenneth and Marcia Lancet; they preceded him in death as did his brother, William Lancet. Richard attended IPS and Shortridge High School. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Mr. Lancet served in the US Army and with an honorable discharge as a Captain in 1946. His professional career included working at EMPCO, Carrier Corporation, and the State of Indiana. In their retirement, the Lancets enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, and volunteering. He was a member of Church of the Saviour UMC. Survivors include his wife, Alyce Sharp Lancet whom he married in 1979; children, Jeanne Hendricks, Margaret Fletcher, Carolyn Lancet, Patricia Lancet, David Lancet, Rex Sharp, Paul Sharp, Marcia Nicholas, Suzy Sharp, 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, May 18, 2013 in the chapel at Hoosier Village, 5300 W. 96th, Indianapolis with visitation from 1 pm until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Developmental Services, Inc., P.O. Box 1023, Columbus, IN 47202-1023 Arrangements have been entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan-Zionsville.
