On Wednesday, June 13, Richard Huston died at the Indiana Heart Hospital surrounded by his family. Dick was born in Indianapolis to Fred and Jeanette Huston who preceded him in death. His sisters Maxine Pellett and Elaine Spalding also preceded him in death. His sister Betty Gwinn survives. Dick graduated from Arsenal Tech High School. He served in the Army of Occupation in Japan for a year following World War II. He attended I.U. and Butler University and graduated from I.U. School of Law. He was Chief Council of the Indianapolis Legal Aid Society for several years. He served as a judge in Marion County for thirty five years. Dick also served in the Indiana National Guard as a JAG officer retiring as a colonel. Dick married Patricia Utley in 1955 who survives. Also surviving are their children Alyson Clements (Rocky), Rich Huston (Ruthann), Jim Huston (Christy) and Paul Huston. Their grandchildren are Tony Clements (Angie), Katie Clements, Elizabeth Huston, John Huston, Luke Huston, David Huston and Joseph Huston. The beloved great grandchildren are Lauren Clements, Mathew Clements and Michael Clements. John Pellett and his wife Sally are his very dear niece and nephew and there are many other much loved nieces and nephews. Dick's accomplishments in life don't really describe the total man. His abiding passions in life were his faithfulness to God, his unwavering patriotism, the law, and perhaps, most of all, his family. He was an avid reader, history buff, lover of music, traveler and enthusiastic fan of I.U. basketball and the New York Yankees. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Venturini whose years of care allowed Dick to visit many countries and see his family grow. We would also like to thank Dr. Ghumann for his care in recent years and the wonderful nurses and staff at the Indiana Heart Hospital for their gentle T.L.C. and high degree of professional skill. He was a member of Cumberland United Methodist Church (219 N. Muessing St., Indianapolis, IN 46229) where funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 19th, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 18, 2012 from 4-8 PM at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E.
