Richard Allen Hussung, age 78 of Whitestown passed away August 5th, 2014
He was born in Indianapolis on May 8th, 1936 to the late Albert H. and Gertrude A. Hussung.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Arlene Hussung, sister Phyllis Jean Hussung, children Lori Kaye (Tony) Arrington of Cloverdale, IN, Linda Raye (Jimmy) Sparks of Tuscon, AZ, Lisa Faye (Tommy) Spegal of Cicero, IN, Richard Allen Jr. (Sheri) Hussung of Lebanon, IN, Stephanie Irene (Kent) of Kempton, IN, step-son Steven Reeves of Marion, IN. He is also survived by his grandchildren Bradley Gilliam, Morgan Turley, Joshua Hussung, Benjamin Hussung, Nicole Swanke, Danielle Hussung, Collin Barnett, Ryan Burns, Tyler Burns, Jagger Busenbarrick, Kristy Reeves, Brenda Reeves, and 12 great grandchildren.
Richard attended IPS #67, George Washington High School. He worked at Western Hardware, Beasley's Garage, and retired from Peine Engineering (formerly Indianapolis Weathermakers) in 1995 after 40 years. He was a member of the United Association of Plumbers and Steam Fitters #440 in which he joined in 1955. Richard was also a member of the Zionsville Jaycees where he installed the original flushing toilets and was the President in 1965. In his continuous community support he worked with the Zionsville Lions Club to design and install the original Tot Lot for small tykes in the Community Park. During the 1970's he played men's softball and coached TBall and girls' softball. Richard also bowled for several years with his father and friends at the old Speedway lanes.
Richard is preceded in death by his first wife Jacqueline R. Hussung, brothers Albert H. Hussung Jr., Arnold F. Hussung, and sister Doris Mae Hussung.
Visitation will be held Friday August 8th from 4-8pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Zionsville with Services Saturday August 9th at 11:00am with calling one hour prior with burial to follow at Zionsville Cemetery.
