Richard F. Wassen, 85, Westfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 29, 2015. He was born September 6, 1929, in Plainfield, NJ, the son of the late August Emil and Anna (Johansen) Wassen. He married Doris E. Cook on November 6, 1954.
Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Curtis Dyna Products after 35 years of service. He attended Connection Pointe Christian Church in Brownsburg. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, working in the yard, and vacationing in Florida. He was also an avid Indy Car and Colts fan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Doris E. Wassen; four children, Bob (Nancy) Wassen, Cathy (Terry) Lahne, Jim (Shelly) Wassen, and Debbie (Jeff) Ricketts; daughter-in-law, Tamie Wassen Reece; six grandchildren, Amanda, Diana, Kelly, Alex, Chase, and Sami; great grandchildren, Elisabeth and Gabe; twin brother, Lambert (Barbara) Wassen; and two nephews, Jeff and David Wassen. He was preceded in passing by a son, John Wassen.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Flanner and Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park, 4180 Westfield Road. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at Flanner and Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be directed to Season's Hospice.
