Richard J. Elson, Sr.
65, Indianapolis, passed away October 15, 2012. Rick was born in Indianapolis on November 7, 1946 to Bob and Marvel (Lance) Elson. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the US Army. Rick owned and operated Elson's Lawn and Garden and Elson's Bicycle Shop, serving the community for over 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Kay Shipley-Meils. Richard is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda (Lauck) Elson; his children, Ricky (Kris), Jimmy, and Tracy Lee (Damon); his grandchildren, Maddie, Isabella, Katherine, and Kelsey; his siblings, Bobby (Peggy), Michael (Jane), Tim (Nancy), Janie Elson-Usab, Peggy Clerget (Vic), Cindy Elson-Knobbe (John), and Kevin (Susie); and many nieces and nephews. Prayers will be held on Friday, October 19 at 10 AM at Flanner and Buchanan- Broad Ripple, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1827 Kessler Boulevard E. Drive. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 18 from 5-8 PM at Flanner and Buchanan. Burial will be at St. Joseph/Holy Cross Cemetery, with full military honors. Memorial gifts may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor St. Augustine's Home or the Catholic Youth Organization.
