Richard E. Dakin, 82, passed away on March 31, 2016.
Richard was born on March 3, 1934 to the late Ralph and Pearl Dakin in Indianapolis, IN. He graduated from Tech High School and later served in the United States Army. Richard worked for Link-Belt as an experimental machinist and tool and die maker. He was a Freemason at the Southport Lodge, a car enthusiast and a wonderful dancer.
Richard is survived by his three children; Matthew (Sylvia) Dakin, Maureen (Sellie) Walton, Michele (James) Redelman, six step-children; Kevin (Diane) Schafer, Brian (Susan) Schafer, Neil (Marlene) Schafer, Leo (Lori) Schafer, Alan (Julie) Schafer, Joe (Betty) Schafer, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, sister, Lois Paugh, and his first wife, Sharon Dakin. He is preceded in death by his parents and late wife, Mary Rita Dakin.
Arrangements were entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan- Washington Park East.
Memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s honor to “The Gathering Together”, where the family was greatly comforted by the loving care Richard received.
