Richard "Dickie" Anderson

Richard “Dickie” Anderson, a lifelong resident of Zionsville, Indiana died on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Majestic Care of Carmel, just a few days short of his 71st birthday after a short battle with cancer. Born on April 16, 1955, Richard lived a long and full life despite several congenital health issues. He was put into foster care before his first birthday and adopted by his foster parents, Chester and Clara Anderson of Zionsville who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his legal guardian, Jerry Harris of Zionsville.

From an early age, Richard would ride along with Chester, who was a night watchman for Tom Harris Chevrolet in Zionsville. That sparked a love of cars that he carried for his entire life. Richard would work for both Tom Harris and then Bill Estes Chevrolet for over 49 years. He loved Corvettes and enjoyed meeting Indy 500 drivers when they would come to pick up their pace cars in the month of May. Richard also worked for the Town of Zionsville, helping to maintain the Fire and Police Departments. Richard was a graduate of Zionsville High School, an original member of the Zionsville Police Cadets, and a baptized member of the Zionsville Christian Church. Richard will be missed by his second family, guardian Sharon Harris, Ann (Kurt) Bredensteiner, and Mark (Kim) Harris along with many friends from his workplaces and around Zionsville.

Services will be held at Flanner and Buchanan in Zionsville on Friday, April 24th with visitation from 11:00am until the service at 1:00pm officiated by Rev. Tyler Thompson. Burial will follow the service at Lincoln Memory Gardens Cemetery in Whitestown where he will be buried next to his parents Chester and Clara.
