Richard 'Dick' V. Kurzawa

Richard "Dick" V. Kurzawa 81, Indianapolis, was called home to be with his Lord on March 23, 2012. He was born on Nov. 2, 1930 the oldest of 5 children to Valentine and Stella Kurzawa who preceded him in death. He married "the love of his life" Bernadine Berendt of Detroit, Michigan on June 13, 1953. They were married 59 years. Along with his wife, other survivors include children, Diane (Chuck) Schwanekamp, Jeff (Cathy) Kurzawa, Jim (Annette) Kurzawa, Karen (Jeff) Campbell, Lynn (Jeff) Henning; grandchildren include, Brent (Mary), Alyssa (Nick), Danny (Hannah), Jared, Joe, James, John (Charlotte), Cathryn, Jake, Courtney, Katlyn and Charlie, as well as four great- grandchildren. He graduated from the University of Detroit in 1953, then signed on with General Motors management, where he retired after 40 successful years. He was a very active member of St. Monica Catholic Church and was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. He and his wife served as a marriage prep sponsor couple for many years. He loved golf, gardening and following the many sporting events to which his children and grandchildren participated and coached in. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in Flanner and Buchanan - Washington Park North . A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Monica Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. You are invited to go to the Guest Book page to pass along your personal message or tell a story.
