Richard 'Dick' Smith

Richard Keil "Dick" Smith, age 87 of Indianapolis, formerly of Naperville, IL went home to be with our Father on August 19th, 2014 Dick was born in Pittsburgh, PA on October 21st, 1926 to the late Richard and Martha Smith. He retired from US Gypsum Company after a long and dignified career. He was a member of the Naperville Kiwanis Chapter, Naperville VFW, and lifetime member (over 66 years) of the William D. McILroy Masonic Lodge #269. Dick served our country proudly in the US Navy during WWII on the Bunker Hill and in recent years he was invited to go on the "Honor Flight" to Washington D.C. Dick was a Christian and served as an Elder at Knox Presbyterian Church in Naperville, IL until he moved to Hoosier Village with his wife Ruby to be closer to their children. Richard is survived by his loving wife Ruby Smith, son Richard Keil (Luan) Smith, and daughter R. Elaine (Stephen) Kessel. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Keil Smith, Hayden Smith, Stephanie (Ryan) Sommer, Nicole (Joshua) Samuelson, and Sandra Kessel as well as great grandchildren Jackson Sommer and Melanie Sommer. A Memorial Service will be held at Hoosier Village Chapel on Friday August 29th, 2014 at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior. Memorial Contributions in Richard's honor may be made to "Good Neighbor Fund" addressed to BHI Foundation Inc. (5415 Bearberry Lane Indianapolis 46268.
