Richard 'Dick' Akin

Richard “Dick” Arthur Akin, 74, of Indianapolis, passed away at home on Sunday, February 13, 2011. He was born on May 26, 1936 in Seattle, Washington to Loren Willis and Dorothy May (Reeder) Akin. Dick enjoyed playing poker and spending time with friends and family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dolly (Pratt) Akin; children, David (Mary) Akin, Dean (Lisa) Akin, Doug Akin, Deanna Akin, Drew Akin and Darrin Akin; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and 5 brothers. Funeral services will be held at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center – Speedway on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 2pm, with visitation 2 hours prior to the services. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Boys Town, 14100 Crawford St. Boys Town, Nebraska 68010.
