Indianapolis

Indianapolis, Indiana – Richard “Rick” Brune, 60, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his closest friends and family on September 3, 2025.

Rick was born in Indianapolis on August 13, 1965, to parents Larry and Karen Sue (Waldron) Brune. Rick graduated as a Journeyman Tool and Die maker, working a Ford Motor Company for over 40 years. His love for food and cooking led him to study culinary arts at Ivy Tech.

Rick didn't know a stranger. His infectious laughter, love for music, and passion for delicious food will be missed by all who knew him. Rick was devoted to his family and friends. Known as the life of the party, he entertained his guests with his food and hospitality, whether it was cooking for the annual Cajun Feast or simple Sunday family dinners. He also loved to spend long weekends at Wasatch Lake creating unforgettable memories with family and good friends.

Rick is survived by his beloved wife Deborah (Jones) Brune; daughters Jessica Polley (Jerry), Holly Fellows (Zachariah); brother David Brune (Lorri); grandchildren Hailey & Carley Poston and Tucker & Parker Fellows.

In addition to his parents, Rick is preceded in death by his granddaughter Alexis Poston.

His family will be hosting a memorial gathering at the Indianapolis World Sports Park (1313 South Post Road, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46239) on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Per Rick's request, an after party will immediately follow. Any deliveries for the memorial celebration can be dropped off between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. In Rick's honor, monetary donations can be made to the Wheeler Mission.

As Rick always said, “Laissez les bons temps rouler.”
