Rev. Orphus Smith

September 27, 1947 — June 18, 2016

Rev. Orphus Smith, 69 of Indianapolis went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 18, 2016. He was born September 27, 1946 to Roy and Rose Smith in Stinnett, Leslie County, Kentucky. He came to Indianapolis when he was 18 and lived here since. He loved the Lord and sharing His word. He formerly pastored the New Hope United Baptist Church in Lawrence and loved to sing bluegrass gospel music. He travelled and sang all over the United States. He served people at the Goodwin Center as well. He loved country cooking, fishing and most of all, his family. He is currently a member at First United Evangelical Baptist Church.

Rev. Smith is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Kathleen Parsley and his brother, Lonnie Smith. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Janet, daughter, Missy Vidito, son, Anthony Smith, step-sons, James Marroquin, Romeo Marroquin and William Taboada, sisters, Erma Wallace, Lucille Caldwell, Hilda Brock and his brother, Roy Smith, Jr., as well as his grandchildren; Alena, Abigail, Allyssa, Alexis, Vanessa, Jacob, Emillie, Gabriel, Sean, Liam, Sofia and Victor.

Memorial Contributions may be made in his memory to First United Evangelical Baptist Church.

Friends and Family may visit from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 20 at the West Newton Worship and Youth Center. Funeral Service will be held in Stinnett Kentucky on Wednesday June 22.
