Renee Lucille Lange

July 17, 1951 — March 17, 2023

Indianapolis, Indiana

Renee Lucille Lange 71, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on March 17, 2023.  She was very loved and will be missed dearly.

She was predeceased by her father and mother Thomas and Rena Mae LaRussa of Dallas Texas and left behind her husband Edward Lange, son Mark Lange, daughter Jennifer Scurlock, son in law David Scurlock, four grandchildren Camille, Andrew, Anthony, and Veronica Scurlock, siblings Jeanine Howard, and Lynette (Jim) Weel, and several nieces and nephews.

Renee was married in Dallas Texas in July 1969 to her loving husband, Edward Lange for 53 years.  At the beginning of their marriage, she was an Air Force dependent, traveling to wherever her husband was assigned.  After his discharge from the Air Force, some of her happiest years were in the early days when she raised her young children in Dallas, followed by moves to Farmers Branch and Carrollton until they moved to Indianapolis in 1987.

Renee worked as an Office Manager for an Ophthalmologist for many years followed by a number of years as a legal secretary before retiring in 2014.  She volunteered at St. Barnabas Church in Indianapolis as an Altar Server and volunteered on various committees until 2018.  Renee enjoyed her work at the Church and built many friendships and long-lasting relationships.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved taking them to Saturday evening Mass.

Renee had a great sense of humor and was a fan of late-night comedians, such as David Letterman & Johnny Carson.  She also was a big fan of comedian actress Lucille Ball – she frequently watched reruns of “I Love Lucy!” Renee was a fan of all things Lucy and visited Lucy’s hometown, Jamestown, NY one summer vacation.  She also had a special place in her heart for dogs, especially her Yorkshire terrier Sparky, her independent minded Carin Terrier Tex, or her favorite grand-dog Pepper.

She will be sadly missed and will always hold a special place in our hearts.  If you would like to pay your respects you are welcome to the viewing and services on Friday, March 24, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250.
