Renee Allene Rickard 28, of Indianapolis, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 19, 2010.
She was born May 26, 1982 in Indianapolis to Eugene and Karyl Rickard.
Renee was a 2001 Pike High School graduate. She attended the United States Air Force Academy and Purdue University. During her service as a cadet in the United States Air Force, she received a National Defense Service Medal as well as other awards. Renee was dedicated to serving others with excellence, dignity and respect. She exemplified these qualities as an Indiana State Capitol Police officer, a career she was passionate about and greatly enjoyed.
Renee's favorite activities included hiking in Colorado, martial arts and snowboarding.
She was a loyal and generous friend to all. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and two Chihuahuas. The celebration of her life and legacy will live on.
She is survived by her parents; brother, Mark Rickard and sister-in-law, Rorie (Petri) Rickard of Midland, Michigan. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 22 at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center- Washington Park North, 2706 Kessler Blvd. W. Dr., Indianapolis, IN 46228, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday, September 23 at Traders Point Christian Church, 6590 South Indianapolis Road, Whitestown, IN 46075 (SW of intersection of I-65 and SR 334). Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 23 at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Washington Park North Cemetery.
